Flooring

The next big step is laying the floor. My father in law puts down plywood below the hardwood and carpet and Durock below where tile will be laid, all of which is down. Most builders would lay the the flooring directly on top of the vantek subfloor.

Septic tank

These guys can sure tear up a yard! I was quite surprised to show up to this one Saturday. It has since been filled back in. This is a massive system which is rated based on the number of toilets are in the house (5) and whether or not we have a garbage disposal (yes).

Exterior finished

The outside of the house is technically done. Brick is complete, retaining walls complete. Garage doors have been hung. It cost me $140 more to do "MyQ" motors which are belt drive and include a battery back up, this upgrade also included insulated garage doors. I used overhead door and I had them address a great pet peeve of mine which is that commonly door openers are hung top to bottom instead of left to right. This makes it impossible for a guest to know which door they are opening.

Drywall

I haven't posted in a while but a lot has taken place since my last posting. Drywall began about 1 month ago. It took 2 days to hang all of the drywall throughout the house. The guy who is finishing the drywall is a one man crew. He is doing a very good job but it is taking some time. Right now all of the upstairs is finished and he is almost done with the basement.
